BIAL to offer third party line maintenance service

Bangalore: The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) signed an agreement with Air Works on Tuesday to undertake Third Party Line Maintenance (TPLM) services.
This agreement makes BIAL the first ever airport operator in India to offer this service. TPLM is a function performed by an external agency for aircraft maintenance. Presently, the TPLM is performed solely by the airlines, or through affiliated airlines, with no other available options.
Air works is a DGCA approved, UAE - Gulf Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA)-certified and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)-certified service provider.
“The airport currently handles approximately 310 Air Traffic Movements per day and line maintenance is critical for the airline turnaround operations. Under this agreement, we are catering to the demand of airlines in delivering world-class services with a much more economical option at this airport,” said Marcel Hungerbuehler, President, BIAL.
TPLM will aid BIAL in providing line maintenance services that are certified and at cost effective prices to airlines and also offering services such as trouble-shooting, defect rectification, component replacement and scheduled maintenance and/or checks including visual inspections.
